This memorial dedicated by Community of El Paso to perpetuate the memory of our Valiant citizens who sacrificed their lives for god and country and honoring those who served in our armed forces.
What kind of things are there to do in El Paso, Illinois?  (Besides visit the library, of course!)
  • ​A walking/biking/running trail goes through the city.  It goes 5.4 miles right through town.
  • If you have family from El Paso, you might be interested in the El Paso Veterans Memorial which is downtown on Front Street.
  • Evergreen Cemetery sits on the eastern side of El Paso between Adams and 2nd Street.   This is a nice quiet place for a stroll.  
  • St. Mary's Cemetery is on the northern side of El Paso along Rt 251.  It is a few miles out of town.
  • Downtown El Paso has several shops and eating places. Downtown El Paso is located on Front Street.  The El Paso Veterans Memorial and the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Memorial are along Front Street.
  • There are also stores and eating places along the busier roads in El Paso like Route 24, the exits to I-39, and Route 251.
  • El Paso has several city parks.  Here are a list of a few you might like to try on your next visit to El Paso:
  1.  Franklin Park (also called Elephant Park) - This shady park is famous for its elephant slide.  It also has playground equipment.
  2. Jefferson Park (also called Library Park) - This park sits behind the library.  It has a bandstand, a playground, a water fountain, and sheltered picnic areas.  
  3. South Pointe Park - The El Paso Community Center is located in this park along with the El Paso Recreation Department.  The park has a playground, baseball field, soccer fields, and lots of open space for playing games like frisbee or kite-flying.  In addition, the park contains a swimming pool and a sand volleyball field. A pond stocked with fish also adorns this park.   Tennis courts and frisbee golf are other amenities. This is a great place to park to get on the walking/biking/running trail that goes through town.
  4. Corn Belt Park - This park contains a basketball court, a picnic area, and a sheltered picnic area.
